RMA – The Royal Marines Charity recently funded a ski-therapy trip to Chamonix, France. Our huge thanks to filmmaker James Malone for creating this fantastic video.
The aim of the project is to continue the recovery of wounded, injured or sick Royal Marines in a challenging environment, participating in various snow sports, to learn or develop their skiing or boarding to assist their recovery, with the guidance of expert instructors.
This was the third visit to Chamonix, following a recce and inaugural event in 2019, Covid then delayed any further trips till 2022. Luckily, the French government relaxed their entry rules only days before the first group departed, much to everyone’s relief, the weather and conditions were fantastic, and the adventure was on.
20 Beneficiaries travelled to France, aged between their late 20’s to mid-60’s with a range of injuries, including single and double amputees, hip replacements, cancer patients and PTSD sufferers. The trip was over 2 weeks with 10 former RM’s on each week.
The various generations of Royal Marines made the trip such a success with everyone offering so much to the group with conversation experience and respect.
