The Welfare and Grants office are the initial point of contact for serving and former Royal Marines, and their dependant families, who are seeking charitable assistance for a range of financial and non-financial support. Eligible beneficiaries are considered equally, irrespective of length or type of service, or service in any operational theatre/conflict. Each application is treated strictly on its merits.
The purpose of grant giving is to provide support whilst empowering and encouraging beneficiaries to manage their current crisis (sometimes with the support of other delivery pillars within the charity) and therefore be better equipped to manage future challenges. We will often do this in conjunction with other service charities to ensure a comprehensive holistic delivery of support as well as the most appropriate distribution of our funds
Although not an exhaustive list, grant delivery areas often include; financial help towards relocation costs, professional fees and charges towards funeral costs, essential food, groceries and clothing, mobility/disability aids and adaptations, white goods, brown goods, respite and family breaks, mental health therapy, primary debt, e.g. council tax arrears, utility bill. Areas that grants are not normally made include care home top up fees, legal costs (other than bankruptcy charges and access/residency to child/ren cases).
